‘Breaking Bad’ Sequel Will Be a Movie, Set to Follow Jesse Pinkman After the Series Finale

Now that Breaking Bad has gotten the masterful prequel it deserves thanks to Better Call Saul, the only place left to go is forward in time with a sequel, which is exactly what we're getting. It was announced yesterday that creator Vince Gilligan would be returning to write and executive produce a Breaking Bad film, but no other details were available.

Now SlashFilm has gotten the exclusive scoop on the upcoming film and they have confirmed that it will follow Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman and his life after Walter White more or less sacrificed himself to save him. The original announcement was dissected by fans and SlashFilm cracked the code, confirming that it will be a television movie, not another series...

It was also suggested that this will be a television movie, as it is being make through Gilligan’s deal with Sony TV, who produced the original show (which aired on AMC). There was even the briefest of brief loglines: the movie would “[track] the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.”

And yes, Breaking Bad fans, you put two and two together correctly: we have confirmed that the kidnapped man is Jesse Pinkman and the movie will follow his escape from Albuquerque following the bloody events of the series finale.

Production is expected to begin in New Mexico relatively soon. It's is unknown at this time if Gilligan will also direct the film in addition to writing and producing, but we can expect more announcements and confirmation soon.
