To paraphrase Obi-Wan, this weekend I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of MRAs suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news late Friday that Kathleen Kennedy is going to remain in charge of Lucasfilm—and all its many tentacles—for the next three years.

Those of us that have enjoyed this resurgence in Star Wars are sure to be thrilled that Kennedy will continue to guide the franchise far, far away from the prequels. Those who feel that the franchise has been ruined by the increased representation of non-white male actors are sure to be furious about this, though let's be honest, those people wake up in the morning looking for something to get pissed off about.

With Disney expected to take a more measured approach to Star Wars content going forward, I think Kennedy's guidance will be better served on fewer projects. Even for die hard Star Wars fans, the prospect of a movie every year for the rest of forever was daunting. The great fear for any fan is apathy and I feel that a renewed focus on quality over quantity is going to benefit Star Wars in the end.
