Cinemex is Mexico's equivalent of AMC, Cinemark, or Regal here in the States, a big conglomerate with lots of multiplexes in lots of states. Jamie Lee Curtis and original Halloween director John Carpenter shot this promo for the theater chain in which they talk a bit about the film before introducing a trailer with some new footage.
Advance word on the forty year old sequel to the original out of Toronto is mostly positive. It's a down and dirty sequel that ignores all the other sequel mythology and gets back to Laurie Strode vs Michael Myers. With the exception of some bad missteps like Your Highness and Our Brand is Crisis, director David Gordon Green has a pretty great track record, leaving me excited to see what he's got in store.
It's hard for Halloween fans to get excited for any Halloween sequel because most of them have turned out rotten. There's a handful of fun sequels in there like Season of the Witch and H2O, but it's mostly a lot of garbage with some memorable kills and a lot of Donald Pleasance slumming. This feels like one to be at least marginally excited about, though.
Halloween opens worldwide on October 19.
