One of the best HBO series of all time was the short-lived musical comedy series Flight of the Conchords. Based on the comedic and musical stylings of the titular duo comprised of New Zealanders Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, the show only ran for two seasons but managed to pack in a ton of laughs and some damn good music.
Now the Conchords are back with a brand new HBO special set to air in October, and they've announced it via a rather cheeky video on HBO's Twitter account. Though there's no indication as to what sort of things to expect, I imagine this will be a show of mostly new material rather than a greatest hits compilation or something of that nature.
No word on whether Rhys Darby will be back as Murray or if Kristen Schaal's Mel or Eugene Mirman's Eugene will be back, but I hope this is a chance to get the whole gang back together. Don't hold your breath for the last two, though I wouldn't be surprised to see Murray show up. Let's be honest, even though the Conchords are a duo, things just wouldn't be the same without Murray.
Flight of the Conchords will return to HBO for their special on October 6.
