FUNNY

This past Spring, two dormant franchises got revived in a bid to bring audiences into theaters in droves, and both failed to move the needle even a little bit. Both Tomb Raider and Pacific Rim: Uprising suffered from a serious lack of imagination, and Screen Junkies' latest Honest Trailer takes aim at both of these stinkers.
My favorite thing about this newest Honest Trailer is how it points out that both of these films came from cynical places, not developed out of love for either franchise, but rather because Warner Brothers and Universal respectively realized that they had potential money makers in their portfolio. You've also gotta love that dig at John Boyega's character they've dubbed "Pacific Finn."
Man, I never thought I'd miss Charlie Hunnam in a movie before, but all they needed to do was cast Scott Eastwood to make me realize just how charismatic Hunnam truly was in the first Pacific Rim. Memo to Hollywood, stop casting Scott Eastwood. He made Paul Walker look like the spark holding the Fast & Furious franchise together.
So yeah, guaranteed you'll forget about both of these films immediately after watching them, which is why it's probably better just to catch the condensed four minute version of both movies in this Honest Trailer. And just in case you're operating under the delusion that these films were successful because they made a ton of money overseas, allow me to point you toward two statistics.
First, Pacific Rim Uprising made twenty two million dollars more in its entire theatrical run than the original made in its opening weekend in 2013. And Tomb Raider 2018 made ten million dollars more TOTAL in North America than the Angelina Jolie original made in its opening weekend back in 2001. The world roundly rejected these movies. Best you should as well.
