Minuscule Bits of New Footage Can Be Found in New ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ TV Spot (VIDEO)

I feel like if Edgar Wright had just toughed out whatever it was that Marvel wanted him to do with Ant-Man, they would have let him loose on the sequel to create whatever crazy shit he wanted. Sadly that never came to be and now we're left with Yes Man director Peyton Reed's idea of being let loose, and I must admit it looks far more clever than I expected.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Ant-Man. It's very cute and clever, but ultimately not very memorable. Hopefully this sequel snaps that trend a bit and does something over the top and nuts. Ever since Doctor Strange, Marvel has shown a willingness to let their directors do progressively weirder stuff—provided it fit the story—and I want to think that Ant-Man and the Wasp will relish the opportunity to do likewise.

If nothing else, you've gotta love the cast: Paul Rudd's impossible to hate, Michael Douglas survived a bout with cunnilingus-related throat cancer, Evangeline Lilly is great, Michael Peña and the rapper and the weird guy from Dark Knight are also a lot of fun. I feel like so long as Marvel is aiming to make these movies fun, they're aiming in the right direction. Ant-Man and the Wasp flies into theaters on July 6.
