Based on the reviews for the 2017 novel A Simple Favor, fans of Gone Girl may want to brace themselves for what has been referred to as Gillian Flynn's novel on steroids, on cocaine, on virtually everything you can use to complete this metaphor. Darcey Bell's debut novel is now being turned into a major motion picture with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively Matters, directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy, Ghostbusters 2016).

Set for release in September, A Simple Favor centers on "Mommy blogger" Stephanie Ward (Kendrick), whose best friend Emily (Lively) asks Stephanie for a simple favor, to pick up Emily's son along with her son after school one day. When Emily never shows up to collect her son that evening, Stephanie discovers that the woman she's called her best friend is actually almost a total stranger to her.

It's not a bad set-up, and the Gone Girl comparisons likely point us in the direction of some of the twists and turns the story will take, for instance, this is probably Gone Girl from the perspective of Casey Wilson's character. What do you guys think? Anyone out there read the book? Anyone excited about the pairing of Kendrick and Lively? Sound off in the comments section below!
