It's clear that no one at Universal Studios read Ready Player One, because they didn't fall into the same trap that everyone else who read the book fell into. When you finish the paperback of Ernest Cline's book, there's an advertisement in the back for his second book, Armada. Unfortunately, this book is total trash and should just be ignored, but as it turns out, Universal bought the rights to make it into a movie long before the book was even finished.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, following the successful opening of Cline's Ready Player One, the film adaptation of his book Armada now has a screenwriter in the form of Wrath of the Titans scribe Dan Mazeau. Armada is basically Ender's Game meets The Last Starfighter, and based on how well the adaptation of the former book went, I don't think you need to get your hopes up that Armada will be any better.

I get that you want to be in business with a guy who wrote a huge smash hit book which was turned into a huge smash hit movie, but maybe ask him if he's got any other ideas they might want to turn into a movie instead. I'm just trying to save everyone involved a lot of time and money. Don't count on anyone who's read Armada wanting to go see a film adaptation of it. It's that bad.
