Arguably the king of good looking antagonists in the 80s, William Zabka has had himself a nice career out of the spotlight since moving away from acting. The man who played Johnny Lawrence in The Karate Kid, Chas in Back to School, and Rick Tolan in Just One of the Guys has actually earned an Oscar nomination for writing and producing the short film "Most" in 2004. Well, he's back in front of the camera and returning to his most iconic role for the upcoming YouTube Red series Cobra Kai.
Zabka and former on-screen rival Ralph Macchio are back both as producers and stars in this new Karate Kid spinoff series. Johnny Lawrence reopens the Cobra Kai dojo where John Kreese once taught him discipline and dirty moves in equal measure. Like most men, Lawrence peaked in high school and so recapturing old glories is a thing that most men will be able to relate to.
The only problem with this entire endeavor is that nobody—and I mean NOBODY—is paying for a YouTube Red subscription in order to watch it. These streaming services don't yet realize that holding onto exclusivity on certain titles is going to force them into obscurity eventually. I mean, good luck and all, and it's great to see Billy Zabka back in action, but so long as this stays on YouTube Red, no one is going to watch it.
