Following the disappointing first seasons of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher, it's kind of hard to get excited about season two of Jessica Jones, unless you go back and rewatch the first season to remember how awesome it was. Not that any of those shows were outright terrible—okay Iron Fist was terrible—but they suffered from wildly inconsistent tonal shifts and balanced what good there was in them with plenty of downright awful stuff.
Jessica Jones' second season debuts one week from today and this featurette shows that Krysten Ritter's title character is up to her old tricks of losing friends and alienating people. It seems as though the relationship between Ritter's Jessica and Rachael Taylor's Trish "Patsy" Walker is disintegrating quickly and that may drive Patsy to become her comic book alter ego Hellcat. Fingers crossed we get some of these deep characters going in the Netflix Marvel universe.
I guess it just wouldn't be Jessica Jones without tons of female drama, which is a huge part of what makes the show so great. Digging beneath all the "women be shopping" bromides and actually giving these characters something real to deal with is going to give it a huge leg up on the competition. Season 2 premieres, in its entirety, next Thursday March 8.
