We'll be debating the choices made in The Last Jedi until there is no longer breath left in our bodies, and I think that's the sign of a really good movie. Or at least a really ballsy movie. Films that hold up to nitpicking are often the ones we remember most, and the number of nits picked over the eighth entry in the Star Wars saga proper is almost too many to count.

Of course, despite all of the storytelling debates, the film is undeniably gorgeous and the sound design was outstanding. It's going to lose the Oscar on Sunday to Dunkirk as the sound branch almost always favors actual war over space war, like just last year when Hacksaw Ridge beat Rogue One. Nevertheless, this new video from ABC "The Force of Sound" takes you behind the scenes of the sound work that went into The Last Jedi, and it's impressive. It's long—carve out a solid half an hour to watch it—but it's fascinating stuff for anyone who's interested in everything from foley to mixing.

One total god damned injustice that needs to be corrected immediately, however, is the lack of involvement from Ben Burtt. This is the man who CREATED the sound palate for Star Wars and he says that no one has contacted him about working on these films. This isn't acceptable and needs to be rectified immediately. Shame on Kathleen Kennedy, JJ, Rian Johnson, and everyone at Lucasfilm. A hearty boo-urns to all of you.
