TV & FILM

So we have two new TV spots for Black Panther that show off just how expansive this flick is gonna be. The one above features Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia wielding some Tron looking rings and Letitia Wright's Shuri showing off her Panther gauntlets. There's lots of cool tech on display and I imagine this is going to be the most tech-heavy movie since Iron Man.
The second spot, which you can watch below, has Forest Whitaker doing his Forest Whitaker thing. Funny accent, funny wardrobe, it's like his sweet spot. The guy was in Battlefield Earth after all, and no one has yet debated the merit of his character in Rogue One over on that open post, so what up with that?
I do worry that these new TV spots and trailers are showing off a little too much of the movie. I get that it's 135 minutes and we've seen maybe five, but taking scenes from all across the movie leads to Thor: Ragnarok syndrome where you see the entire movie before you even get to the theater. I have faith in Ryan Coogler though. He seems like the type of dude that knows all of this and has managed to keep the good stuff under wraps until the release. Speaking of which, Black Panther hits theaters one month from tomorrow, on February 16.
