It's been so long since the best movie of the year actually won an award stating as much, I had almost forgotten that the words Best Picture actually mean something. If you haven't seen Martin McDonagh's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, you haven't seen one of the best films of 2017—and in my mind, it's still the best of the movies I've seen. Well, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave the film four awards at its Golden Globes ceremony last night, including the top prize of the evening.

McDonagh also picked up the award for Best Screenplay, while Frances McDormand took the Best Actress in a Drama statue and co-star Sam Rockwell won for Best Supporting Actor. In fact, it only lost two awards—Best Director and Score—both of them to Guillermo Del Toro's The Shape of Water. In a year that's been seeking a front-runner at the Oscars, I guess we finally have our first substantial contender for that title. Also of note, James Franco won Best Actor for The Disaster Artist, and Tommy Wiseau got the moment of the night which you can relive later today when the GIF of the Day goes live.

Personally, I couldn't be happier that the film and Sam Rockwell in particular are being recognized. I thought it was a fantastic and beautifully grim character study about learning to live with the people around you, whether you like them or not. And let's face it, that's a lesson all of us could use right about now. And Sam Rockwell is one of the greatest actors of his generation and never gets enough recognition for that fact. I'm proud to welcome everyone aboard the Sam Rockwell bandwagon. There's plenty of room for everyone. Check out a complete list of the Golden Globes winners below...
