When David Letterman rode off into the sunset in 2015, I think we all secretly thought he'd be back. Much like his arch rival Jay Leno, retirement doesn't suit Dave. Despite portraying a character for thirty-plus years who loathed the spotlight, Dave has finally discovered that he really can't live without it.

Thank goodness Netflix was there to pick up the slack. "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman" is being billed as a stand-up comedy special, but it's a whole lot more than just that. It's a six-part monthly series in which Dave interviews an extraordinary person in settings both public and private, starting with former president Barack Obama in his interview since leaving office in the series premiere on January 12.

Subsequent episodes will air every month with future guests including George Clooney, Malala Yousafazi, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, and Howard Stern. I can't wait for this, as Dave was always a great interviewer when he actually gave a damn about the person to whom he was talking. I've missed his voice and his unique outlook on the world, and I really can't wait for this to premiere next week.
