Did you ever want to know what The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's iconic villain Leatherface was like as a kid? Well have I got good news for you! You're gonna find out this Fall when the horror prequel Leatherface gets released!
Now, I know what you're thinking... Didn't they already do a TCM prequel back in the mid-aughts? Why yes, yes they did, but I guess Leatherface was more of a teenager in that one, whereas from the looks of this new flick, he's a full-on pre-teen kid. Man, I can't wait for the next prequel in ten years when he's an infant. What a time will be had by all!
You're probably also thinking... Wasn't there already a TCM movie titled Leatherface? Right again, but that one had a subtitle and starred Viggo Mortensen, so it doesn't count. This one is only called Leatherface and it stars Stephen Dorff, so it's totally different.
If there's one constant throughout all the various Texas Chainsaw sequels and prequels, it's that they all pretend like the 1974 original is the only other film in the franchise. Expect the same here, and from the inevitable reboot four years from now. Leatherface premieres exclusively on DirecTV on September 21 before receiving a limited theatrical and full VOD release on October 20.
