Netflix threw another curveball at Hollywood on Thursday, officially announcing a deal with Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison Productions. They'll produce four brand new movies starring Sandler that will premier exclusively on Netflix, bypassing theatrical release altogether.
Obviously, this is fantastic news for anyone who loves Adam Sandler but it getting sick of watching and re-watching Big Daddy. It's also very good news David Spade and Rob Schneider, who are now guaranteed to get at least four more acting gigs.
As for Sandler, he released a delicately worded statement explaining his decision to go in this direction.
"When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only?." he explained. "Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks. Let the streaming begin!""
No word yet on what the four movies will be, but if one of them is not Happy Gilmore 2 then, honestly, what is the goddamn point of living?
