In case you haven't heard, there was a pretty huge shakeup with Marvel's Ant-Man production.

Director Edgar Wright quit the movie over "creative differences," and Marvel hired Peyton Reed as his replacement. So we're going from the guy who made Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz to the guy who made Bring It On and The Breakup.

Needless to say, hardcore fans (i.e., the only ones aware that Ant-Man is a thing) are pretty disappointed...as was Michael Douglas, who probably only signed on for the superhero flick because Wright is awesome:

Making matters worse is that fact that Marvel hiredAdam McKay to come in and rewrite the script—you know, because the plot of Anchorman 2 was so taught.

So what's really going on here? Personally I have no original ideas on the matter. But I like the theory I read over at Cinemablend: with Michael Douglas already pretty disappointed that Wright was leaving, they tried to appease co-star Paul Rudd by hiring his buddy Adam McKay.

In any case, amazing, Ant-Man is still scheduled to hit theaters July 17, 2015.
