As you might imagine, the red band trailer for Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac is loaded with graphic sex scenes. But truth be told, it's one of the least sexy trailers you'll ever see. Unless of course taxidermied foxes and Rammstein music get your motor running, in which case you might want to have tissues at the ready. Mind you, that's not a complaint, and I assume an unsettling vibe is what the film was aiming for. If so, it succeeded in a spectacular fashion.
Nymphomaniac tells the story of a self-described sex addict over the first 50 years of her life, probably because the second fifty years of a nymphomaniac's life aren't as compelling. The ensemble cast includes. Willem Dafoe, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgård, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater and Connie Nielsen, among others.
The two-part four-hour cut premieres on Christmas Day in Denmark, but has no scheduled release date in the US. However, I imagine it's only a matter of time before Nymphomaniac opens to much fanfare in Salt Lake City.
