Nerdiness and badassery, as we know, don't collide very often. There's a reason that colleges are divided into geeks and jocks, and never the twain shall meet (unless one is mocking the others' sellotaped glasses or dickish 1920s hairstyle). Or so the TV likes to tell us, at any rate.

There is a gray area, though. It's a place where these two groups can grasp hands in a meadow on a fine summer's day and sing Ebony and Ivory together. Or, y'know, something like that. One such instance of this is the geekily cool set of comic book covers from Valiant Entertainment you see above.

You may be like us, and have nary an inkling of what's going on in the comic world. It's like attempting to learn a foreign language: you can recognize the odd disjointed word (such as ‘Marvel,' ‘DC,' ‘Stan Lee,' ‘Spider-Man' and 'Batman' in this case), but beyond that it's a shitstorm of confusion and references that fly far over our heads. Fear not, though. You don't need to know who in holy hell Valiant Entertainment are to appreciate these covers based on Doom, Tetris, Zelda and other retro games.
