The reviews for 2 Guns are a bit mixed. About half the critics seem focused on the negatives, such as the fact that it's a bit formulaic (newsflash: they're all formulaic), or that it's exceedingly violent. The other half, on the other hand, are focused on the positives. And the most obvious positive aspect of 2 Guns is that is stars Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg.

Now, everyone knows that Denzel and the artist formerly known as Marky Mark could prop up a bland movie with their eyes closed and one hand tied behind their respective backs. But from what everyone is saying here, these two go above and beyond their usual awesomeness in this flick. Denzel plays the curmudgeony guy who, in the grand tradition of characters like Sergeant Roger Murtaugh, is getting too old for this sh*t. Wahlberg, meanwhile, plays the younger loose cannon—or the white yin to the black guy's yang.

Is 2 Guns perfect? I doubt it. But while some critics are calling it 'forgettable,' others are saying this is best buddy cop due since Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours. And that high praise is enough to make me think it won't be a waste of $15 if you go see it this weekend.

Now, Smurfs 2, on the other hand...yikes.
