Bad news for people who like gruff characters with mustaches. Actor Dennis Farina has passed away at the age of 69. TMZ is reporting that he died as the result of a blood clot in his lung. Of course TMZ is also reporting about Bar Refaeli picking a bikini wedgie out of her ass, so maybe we should take this with a grain of salt.
Farina often played the quintessential 'Chicago guy,' which is easy to understand since he was a quintessential 'Chicago guy.' Hell, he even spent a few years working for the Chicago Police Department, a job that no doubt helped prepare him for the numerous cop gigs he would later land as a character actor, including his role of Detective Joe Fontana on Law & Order.
Farina also appeared in numerous films such Midnight Run, Saving Private Ryan, and Out of Sight. He continued to work right up until the end, including an appearance on The New Girl, earlier this year.
He is survived by his companion of over 35 years, Marianne Cahill.
R.I.P. He will be missed.
