If you thought season four of Community left something to be desired, you weren't alone. While it wasn't awful, many critics and fans alike felt it didn't pack the same comedic punch as previous seasons. This perceived dip in quality was widely attributed to the fact that Dan Harmon, the show's creator and showrunner, was forced out by the network. Well that theory might get put to the test now that Harmon is in talks to rejoin the show for season five.
According to HollyWookiee.com, which sounds totally legit, NBC is in talks with Harmon to return, but it's not clear whether or not he would be the showrunner. Harmon has confirmed that he is in talks with the network, but jokingly stipulated that he would only come back if actor Chevy Chase, with whom he constantly butted heads, also returned.
I'm anxious to see how this plays out, if only because I think it'd be funny to watch him get fired again like the late, great Billy Martin.
