There were still plenty of questions about both the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles going into last night's game, and now I think a lot of them have been answered. Is Andy Reid's time in Philadelphia coming to an end? Yes. Is Michael Vick going to be in Philly next season? No. Is the Saints season over? No. Should Philadelphia start Nick Foles at QB and start planning for the future? I say yes, but that one is tricky. If Reid knows he's gone, he might just stick with the guy he picked instead of grooming his replacement's probable starter.
It's looking more and more probable that after 14 mostly successful years with the Eagles that Reid is most likely going to be gone after this year. He can't be totally blamed for what's going on there, but the head coach takes the fall. Philly's offensive line has been decimated by injuries which has caused problems, but those can be overcome. That was obvious in the first half last night. LeSeanMcCoy was nearly unstoppable, rushing for 101 yards and was barely given the ball in the second half. That was not smart, despite being down 21-3 to start the third quarter.
Vick has shown he's not capable of carrying the team this year. McCoy should be the first priority of their offense, no question. He is a game changer, yet the Eagles don't seem to be interested in using him to his full capabilities.
The Saints, on the other hand, are showing they have plenty of life left. Their defense played their best game of the season and allowed the least amount of points in a game so far. The offense was balanced, and they had three RBs run for 44, 44, and 48 yards. Don't look now, but the Saints are suddenly right in the mix for a wildcard spot.
The Saints will be looking to hand division rival Atlanta their first loss this week when the Falcons go to New Orleans. The Eagles will try to fix things against the Cowboys in Philadelphia.
