When You Fire the Beach Boys from the Band, You’re Basically Firing Summer From the Seasons

Remember how excited your parents got when it was revealed the Beach Boys were finally reuniting with original member and creative force Brian Wilson? The group reformed (minus deceased Wilson bros. Dennis and Carl), recorded an album and recently wrapped up a tour in support of it. But that apparently wasn't enough for vocalist Mike Love. Despite recent statements from Wilson discussing how he was looking forward to record a new 'exciting rock and roll album' with the band early next year, Love decided he doesn't want to stop and will continue to tour under the Beach Boys moniker on his own in the meantime, effectively firing the Beach Boys.

In protest to Love's move, the remaining Boys have begun a petition to try to stop him from moving ahead with his plan of being just a Beach Boy singular. You know, when you're only a few short years away from death, and haven't been relevant since 1971, and you've finally found some semblance of celebrity again because of this big reunion, I don't want to say you're shooting yourself in the foot by doing this, but you've got a 12-gauge pointed at your pinky toe right now, don't you Mike Love?
