It's been over two decades since McLaren came up with a follow-up to the iconic F1. No other car in the world has come close to the F1's speed, design, and to its performance in general. That is, until the P1.
The McLaren P1 is going to be faster, sleeker, and better in more ways than meets the eye. They haven't unveiled it yet though, but you can expect the big reveal to occur sometime in the next few weeks. The video above is actually that of the F1 running against the Bugatti Veyron and you can see that it can still catch up and hold its own against the Veyron, even though the latter is almost ten years its junior.
Here's what McLaren's Managing Director Antony Sheriff had to say:
Our aim is not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit. It is the true test of a supercar's all round ability and a much more important technical statement.
Our goal is to make the McLaren P1 the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made.
Now that's something to be excited about.
