How do you know the War on Drugs is a lost cause? When the people doing the most good for it are the drug dealers themselves. That's apparently what's been going on down in Brazil. The local drug dealers are so fed up with the effect crack has on the community, they've come to an agreement not to sell it. So if you're a Rio De Janeiro crack addict, better stockpile that rock like it's bottled water before Y2K.
Now I'm not saying that the drug dealers are doing this out of the goodness of their heart. Far from it. They're doing it because crack heads are making the communities the drug lords rule over too chaotic to rule effectively. These are drug dealers, mind you -- people who make a living selling drugs. So these Brazilian communities have to be pretty damn bad that drug dealers don't want to sell drugs anymore. How bad? I figure take the most depraved episode of The Shield and probably throw in a dash of the cannibals from The Road. Now personally unless they started doing this with Aderall, it wouldn't effect me, so until then, I think I'm going to cancel my trip to Carnivale this year and visit Somalia instead. I hear it's lovely this time of year and pirate attacks are at an all time low. Plus, you know, I can still get some crack.
