The handheld gaming market has been dominated by Nintendo for a generation, but that doesn't stop upstarts and veteran companies alike from taking a shot at the crown. NeoGeo X Gold is the remake of the handheld that had the best feeling controls that I can remember and it's all coming back this December. The Playstation Vita blew everybody away with its features and horsepower. It's too bad nobody wanted to buy it or it's games. With NeoGeo though, the approach appears to be simple: the games you know and love for the simple price of $199.99.
The list of games pre-loaded on the NeoGeo X Gold includes: Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury Special, The King of Fighters '95, Metal Slug and Samurai Showdown II. Some of you haven't seen those games since the 1990s, so we'll understand if you do a little Running Man dance on the inside at the thought of firing up Samurai Showdown II again. There are 20 games in total that come preloaded on the NeoGeo X Gold, but those are the ones that stood out for us.
Still not sure if you'll be able to add new games to the 20 built-in titles either via download or storage format. We do know that you'll be able to play on a big screen via an HDMI port. Look for NeoGeo X Gold on a store shelf near you this December 6.
