When soccer teams play an exhibition, they call it a 'friendly.' So you'd think that would be the case when the USA basketball team squared off with Argentina. It wasn't. Argentina, who beat the USA in the 2004 Olympics on their way to the gold medal, features some big name NBA stars in Manu Ginobili and Luis Scola.
So when you have rivals from the NBA going at it, it's going to be intense, exhibition or not, especially when national pride is on the line. The game was chippy once Chris Paul fouled Facundo Campazzo a little harder than normal, and it stayed that way throughout.
The game was in Barcelona, where the Dream Team took the gold in 1992, so the U.S. wore throw back uniforms in honor of that squad.
The U.S faces Spain tomorrow night in their final exhibition before the Olympics begin.
