So that was quick. Venus Williams lost in her first round match today at Wimbledon, getting swept out by Russian Elena Vesnina in straight sets.
The 32-year-old Williams hadn't lost in the first round since 1997. Venus got smoked, 6-1 and 6-3. Williams had been out of the game for a while after revealing she was diagnosed with an auto immune disorder during the U.S. Open in August of 2011. Today she talked about getting back into competition.
"I come into tournaments with a positive attitude. I don't really feel like talking about my health now. It is what it is. I'm just a couple of months into getting back on tour. Life is challenging but I'm always up for a challenge."
Williams has won Wimbledon five times in her career.
