If you ask a gamer what he thinks of when you say 'Need for Speed' they'll probably mention the recently announced reboot of 'Need for Speed: Most Wanted' that was revealed at E3 2012. Asking someone down the road might yield a different answer as EA's 'Need for Speed' is now coming to the big screen.

EA has officially confirmed that they are in the process of making a Need for Speed movie that is currently scheduled to start filming early next year with a release date planned for sometime in 2014.

While this news is bound to usher mixed reactions from fans, there is some reassurance in the fact that EA is taking this movie very seriously and has managed to snag a producer position with the film. Basically, they'll have a say in how their franchise is portrayed on the big screen as apposed to a lot of movies that are based off video games, which is partly why they end up sucking so badly. Screw you Hollywood!

With so many different Need for Speed titles under their belt, many are wondering what sort of plot the movie itself will have. While it revealed very little (no) plot details, the press release did mention that the movie would not follow any one specific game and that Scott Waugh (Spider-Man, xXx) would be behind the camera to work his stunt magic.

What do you think? Is there a possible future for a Need for Speed movie or will it suffer from 'video game adapted into a movie' syndrome?
