For the last couple of days the Oklahoma City Thunder have been trying to tell us not to count them out of the NBA Finals even though they were down 3-1 in the best of seven series. As it turns out we could.

The Thunder led briefly during the first period (roughly a minute), but after Shane Battier made a three pointer at the 7:30 mark to make the score 9-8 for Miami it was all downhill for Oklahoma City.

Kevin Durant and company where able to keep the game relatively close in the first half. After the first period the Thunder were only down five, 26-31. Towards the end of the second period the Heat began to pull away; they went into the locker room with a nice 10-point lead, 59-49, over the Heat.

If there was any doubt as to who was going to win, the Heat put that to rest in the third period. About midway through the period and with an 11-point lead, Miami went on a 16-2 run to blow the game wide open. At the end of the period the eventual outcome was clear with the Heat on top 95-71.

The Thunder had their best quarter of the game in the final period with 35 points, but it was not even close to enough to dig out of the hole they were in. Miami added 26 to make the final score 121-106 in favor of the Heat.

All Miami starters scored in double figures. LeBron James led the way for the Heat with a triple-double, 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists, followed by Chris Bosh with 24, Dwyane Wade with 20, Shane Battier with 11, and 10 for Mario Chalmers.

Kevin Durant had 32 for the Thunder, but got no help from his team. The other four starters only accounted for 30 points; Russell Westbrook had 19 after shooting 20 percent from the floor.

(Watch LeBron start the night off right!)
