David Nalbandian has always had a fiery reputation. But I don't think anyone saw this coming? The 30-year old Argentine was disqualified from the Queens Championships final after injuring a line judge by kicking an advertising board into his shin.
The strange thing is though, he was beating Martin Cilic 7-6 (7-3) 3-4 at the time. Imagine what he would have done if he was losing? My guess would be that he'd have smashed the umpire in the face with the butt of his racket.
In his defence, I've never seen such a misplaced advertising board in all of my life and Nalbandian was obviously not aiming to hurt the poor man. But his actions were quite barbaric and the Chair umpire Fergus Murphy was left with no other option than to award the match to Cilic leaving the 6,000 crowd devastated.
If you thought things couldn't get any worse for for Nalbandian, it has now been confirmed that police are investing a complaint of alleged assault against the world number 39 too!
I can only imagine that a long haired tennis player would get pretty roughed up in the joint too. Good luck to him.
