Video game giant, Activision has taken Call of Duty and made it arguably the most popular first person shooter in modern gaming. The games have taken players all across the globe, battling a variety a wars from the past and present but this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops II is taking players into the future to kick some serious ass.

Treyarch are attempting to completely recreate the Call of Duty experience by throwing in a wide variety of new aspects to the series. They aren't just 'Febreezing' this couch...they're tearing off the upholstery and wrapping that bitch in rich Italian leather. Now let's get down to it!

There are so many new additions to this Call of Duty title that some readers may become light headed...this is your warning.

Right off the bat, Treyarch wanted to take this title in a completely new direction, setting the story in the year 2025, during the 'new Cold War'.

The original Black Ops took place during the first Cold War. I call it the first cold war because the new one hasn't happened...yet. -Mark Lamia, Studio Head (Treyarch)

The truth behind the time frame is actually that Black Ops II is a direct sequel to the original but will span generations, allowing players to not only play as David Mason, the son of Black Ops protagonist Alex Mason, but also as Alex himself once again through flashbacks to the late '80s. Father and son will be connected by a common enemy, the mysterious Raul Menendez.

On top of an already stellar story, Black Ops II will introduce players to the new 'Strike Force' single player mode, which will have an 'action/consequence' aspect heavily woven into it. Strike Force is a set of non-linear, sandbox single player missions that exist within the main story's campaign. The main idea behind the Strike Force missions is to have a single player control a team against their opposition by jumping between different members instantly throughout the mission. It definitely makes for an interesting addition to an old series.

Multiplayer is said to be set strictly in 2025 and will run at a sexy 60FPS (frames per second). Game design director David Vonderharr describes how, whether you physically see the difference or not, you'll feel it, describing it as 'that zen you feel when your brain feeds into the controller and back.' A co-op mode will also be featured and promises to be vastly improved upon and...zombie filled!
