The road has been good to the Kings during their post season run, and it continued in the first round of the Stanley Cup Finals Wednesday night. Eight minutes into overtime Anze Kopitar managed to find the back of the net to give the Kings the win, 2-1, and an early 1-0 lead in the best of seven series with the Devils.
For New Jersey it was really a night of frustration. It wasn't so much that Kings goalie Jonathon Quick was unbeatable. The Devils rarely challenged him. It took the Devils nearly 15 minutes to get their first shot on goal during the second period. For the game they ended up with just 17 shots on goal.
The Devils are not that worried though. They lost the first game of the conference semi-finals and finals, but won the second game in both series. Should the Kings win Game Two on Saturday they will tie the NHL record for most post season wins on the road.
