It seems like Ridley Scott just can't leave his classic movies alone. What with his Alien prequel Prometheus set to hit screens in the next few weeks news is now beginning to emerge about the English directors work on a Blade Runner sequel. And it's pretty good news too.
Hampton Fancher, the screenwriter for the original film is in talks to write the new movie and with Scott already confirmed for directing duties it's great to have the old team back together again.
An official press release for the film read, "The filmmakers are also revealing for the first time that the much anticipated project is intended to be a sequel to the renowned original. The filmmakers would reveal only that the new story will take place some years after the first film concluded."
Scott has previously said that he wants a female lead to be the main protagonist in the film but it remains to be seen whether Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Edward James Olmos or Daryl Hannah will return to the fold. The latter probably won't be as flexible as she was in the original.
