The action in Darlington over the weekend was not just in the cars on the track!
Towards the end of the race Kurt Busch ended up sliding. Ryan Newman got bumped by another driver and ended up crashing into the wall as well. There really wasn't anything to be angry about from that incident alone, but there was a little more to it than just that.
Apparently Newman's crew though that Busch was driving a bit reckless coming out of the pits, close to where Newman's people were. Tack on Busch bumping Newman after the race and that was it for the crews—they were ready to fight!
A lot of pushing and shoving went on, and a NASCAR official was knocked down, but otherwise nothing serious happened. Busch later explained to Newman that he was taking his helmet off and couldn't see where he was going.
After reviewing the incident, Busch was fined $50,000 and one of his crew members, Craig Strickler, $5000. One of Newman's crew members, Andrew Rueger was also fined $5000. All three along with Newman's crew chief, Tony Gibson, will be on probation for the near future.
