Tracking Infidelities: Pasmo’s Online Travel History Service Being Used to Catch Cheaters

Remember how Facebook outed a man who was married to two different women, no thanks to the social network's "People You May Know" feature? Now it seems that wives (and maybe some husbands) are using Pasmo to snoop on their partner to see if he or she is having an affair.

Pasmo is a Japanese travel card service that, up until recently, offered an online travel history service. The only information needed to access a three-month travel history was the customer's name, birth date, phone number, and Pasmo card number. This is information you'd probably already know about your partner (save for the card number), which would make it pretty easy to spy on where they've gone for the last few months.

Because of this, Pasmo has shut down its online tracking service. However, a report of the commuter's travel history can still be printed out by taking the card to a station and printing one from a ticket vending machine.

I don't advocate cheating at all, but if you're planning on doing something shady, then you might as well skip the card and buy a ticket once you get to the station instead.
