Samsung's up-and-coming Galaxy S III is being pitted as the main rival to Apple's iPhone. Heck, people are already even comparing it against the future (and still unannounced) iPhone 5, which is rumored to be coming sometime in June this year.
As far as I'm concerned, there are three camps when it comes to smartphones: Apple fanboys, Android loyalists, and the In-betweeners. It's pretty obvious what preferences each group has based on their group names.
So what's so special about the Samsung Galaxy S III? Frankly, no one knows. That's because the manufacturer has yet to announce any specs, release dates, or relevant information about the device. All of its greatness is all speculation, based on how well the Galaxy S II did last year.
And also because it has already managed to rack 10 million pre-orders, according to a tweet from the editor-in-chief of a well-known mobile review blog.
@eldarmurtazin You said it's a niche device, but does that mean it really is? It surely looks like a niche device, but I think it isn't.
-- Jan Ole Suhr (civillian tweeter)
@janole it is. In comparisson with 10 mln preorders for sgs3
-- Eldar Murtazin, Mobile Review editor-in-chief
This could all be just hype to build up the device. But then again, why would a mobile blog editor be hyping Samsung's goods? If the figure in Murtazin's tweet is accurate, then it will probably break a few records set by Apple along the way.
