The Long Wait for Your iPad 3

If you didn't pre-order your iPad 3 already you my friend are screwed, and not in the fun way. In the that annoying guy in your office will be flouting his new tech in from of your face while you wait weeks for the chance to get your hands on the newest model of iPad kind of a way.

Yup, you hear that right, the new iPad has sold out before it even made its way onto the shelves. When you consider that the official announcement was only on the 7th, that is a feat, even for Apple.

In a statement released, oddly enough, to the folks over at USA Today, the company said the following about the success of the pre-order for the newest member of the iPad family. "Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased. Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date."

This morning the estimated delivery date was the 19th of March, only three days after the launch. By this afternoon some people who ordered the new iPad reported the date that they were given for shipping was as late as one week after the official release. Add on up to three weeks of shipping and you can see how this will go.

When you consider that the highest end model will set you back more than $800, not including the Apple Care, that kind of response in this kind of a market is borderline psychotic, but still Apple marches on with record sales and we poor shmucks who didn't pre-order already are left to watch those people who got to the site and put in their
