Spiderman 3, despite making close to $900 million at the global box office, is often regarded as a failure. Sure it was way too long, had too many villains and ultimately ruined the franchise to the point that it needed to be re-booted but it still had Venom in it!
But many believe his inclusion was the cause of all the mess in the third instalment. Did Raimi actually want him in the film? Did the producers just include him to make more money?
Well all of these squabbles don't seem to have deterred Sony executives from bringing back Peter Parker's greatest foe to the big screen with the LA Timesreporting that Chronicle director Josh Trank will direct the Venom spin-off.
For those of you unaware of the character, the character of Venom attaches himself to a human host and is able to become as powerful and dangerous as Spidey himself, but don't get too excited because they don't even have a writer on board yet so it will be a few years until it is released.
Anyone for Topher Grace to reprise his role? Thought not...
