TV & FILM

This weekend I watched Sharknado 2 at an outdoor screening in Brooklyn Bridge Park. That movie is an effing masterpiece. I enjoy all the movies made by Asylum, the producers of Sharknado and other schlocky Syfy original movies. But I think they may finally have gone too far with a planned boy band zombie western starring members of N'Sync and The Backstreet Boys. Yes, you read that right. It is being penned by Backstreet Boy Nick Carter who will also star. The movie will reportedly also star fellow Backstreet Boys A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough, and N'Sync's Joey Fatone. Other members of the group and even Jordan Knight from the New Kids On The Block may join. Carter describes the film,
"It's a zombie Western futuristic horror movie. My character is still being worked out right now, but I'm a good guy that's going to help save the day."
Umm, what in the name of F? Look, Sharknado stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid and some of Asylum's other movies have had Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. So, it's not like they haven't done weird casting choices before. But this just sounds bad in a bad way. Not enjoyable bad like Sharknado. I'll reserve final judgement until they release this masterpiece.
