They say art is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe. I studied theater in my undergrad and film in grad school so I know a little bit about the arts. In general, I respect people's artistic visions even if they aren't to my taste. But one form of "art" I have never taken seriously is performance art. Seriously, it's just a bunch of wanky pretentious people doing wanky pretentious things. "Oooh, I'm going to challenge people's bourgeois morals by peeing on a Barbie doll," or whatever. But a guy named Snorri Asmundsson from Iceland has taken stupid performance art to the next level. He wants a corpse with which he can dance. Here is his ad,
"Looking for dead bodies in the name of the art. I need a corpse for a video installation. If you are dying I would like to borrow your remains after you die. The body will be returned to the undertaker in the 'same' condition. Sincerely Snorri Asmundsson."
Well, with a pitch like that who could say no? You could donate your body to science or your organs to needy recipients or you can leave your rotting body to Snorri for him to dance to prove some kind of point that no one cares or understands. Sounds like a good deal to me.
