We normally don't write about box office numbers and opening weekends here, because who the hell cares. Today is different, though. Today, Jurassic World officially broke the domestic opening weekend box office record and the international opening weekend box office record. And it's kind of a big deal.

The fourth instalment of everyone's favorite dinosaur franchise raked in an official $208.8 million domestically, breaking The Avengers' domestic record of $207.4 million. Then it raked in another $315.3 million internationally, breaking Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2's international record of $314 million.

The grand total and new global record (for those of you who can't do simple addition): $524.1 million.

Holy shit that's a lot of money.

So why the hell is Jurassic World so popular? Because Chris Pratt is magic, obviously. He won last summer's box office battle with Guardians of the Galaxy. Now he's poised to win this summer's box office battle with Dino-Rampage 4: Fresh Meat.

The lesson? All you have to do is put Chris Pratt in your movie and everybody will love it.
