In a move no one asked for, Disney announced in an official press release today that they would be producing a fifth installment of the Indiana Jones series that is scheduled for release July 19, 2019. Harrison Ford, who is apparently taking a tour of old roles, will reprise the title character and Steven Spielberg will direct. You might ask yourself why this is happening, especially in light of what an abomination Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was. No word on if performance artist Shia Labeouf will return to annoy the crap out of us. This is all fueled by gen-x and millennial's insatiable desire for nostalgia. Disney isn't stupid. They know that even if the movie is bad they are going to make a fortune on it because people will go see it just because it's an Indiana Jones movie.
Maybe it will be good. The Force Awakens came after the horrific prequels and that was pretty good. They have basically the same production team but with a different director. But I seriously doubt it will be anything but terrible. After all, how do you come back from surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge?
