The Dreamcast Is (Not) Back, And It’s Bringing Beer

Back in the nineties, I was a Sega guy through and through. The Genesis remains my favorite and most belusted games console of all time, and for a crotchety old set-in-my-ways bastard like me, that’s never changing.

When it comes to nostalgia for Sega’s consoles, though, one in particular comes to mind: the Dreamcast. The company’s last shot at hardware was pretty damn weird, with that Tamagotchi-like LCD thing in its controller and all. Still, all its quirks have made the thing a cult favorite, and there’s still petitioning for a Dreamcast 2 going down.

We’d take the console reappearing in any form, really. But don’t make it the butt of April Fools jokes. You’re playing with people’s emotions here. Won’t somebody think of the children? Just stick to the usual coming out/I’m pregnant/putting saran wrap over the toilet seat so the pee goes everywhere stuff.

Damn you, Asahi. This Japanese beer company is a very bad Japanese beer company. On Friday, they plugged ‘The Dreamcast Reborn’ with the image above, showing the system as a tap for their ‘The Dream’ beer. Sure, it’s the best thing I saw this April Fools, but that’s a bittersweet joke right there.
