Some say we are living in the Golden Age of television. And they're probably right. At one point a few years ago, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Mad Men and Homeland were all running at the same time. And that's just insane.

That said, not everybody is into gritty realism. Some prefer to lose themselves in light, cheesy, formulaic television. And for those people, the 80s was the Golden Age, with shows like The A-Team, Knight Rider, Magnum P.I., Airwolf, Miami Vice, and MacGyver running at the same time.

Fortunately for these people, some of this 80s cheese is coming back. According to Deadline, CBS has ordered a pilot for new MacGyver. They're officially calling it a "prequel" so that it doesn't negate the events original series. But unless the show is set in the 1970s—which seems unlikely—it's probably going to feel more like a reboot.

Let's not split hairs, though. People aren't really going to care whether the show is a reboot or a spinoff so long as (1) MacGyver builds cool sh*t out of junk every week and (2) they find somebody as dreamy as Richard Dean Anderson to star.
