Games companies, as we know, love a bit of the ol' cashtastic. They live for that shit. When their latest AAA release has been on sale for a while and is losing some of its spangly-new-toy hype, what do they do? They bust out some new hunk of DLC or other. This generates interest, revives the player base, all of that good stuff. Supposedly.
This process is repeated a few times, or many freaking times, depending on the game. After enough time has passed, you've got DLC out the wazzoo, and it's tough for latecomers to know where the hell they are. And you know what that means: Game of the Year Edition, or Complete Edition, or Ultimate Edition, or Check-Me-Out-With-All-My-Badass-Bells-And-Whistles Edition… they all mean the same thing really.
Mortal Kombat X has been doing the rounds for some time now, hitting stores in April last year. It's been dropping regular new content since, so here's some news to surprise absolutely no one at all: Mortal Kombat XL Edition is on the way.
As GameSpot reports, Warner Bros made the official reveal yesterday. This new release hits on March 1, and includes the goretacular brawler and all its extra content: ‘…in addition to all characters from Kombat Pack 1 and Kombat Pack 2 (and Goro), it comes with the Apocalypse Skin Pack, as well as the Brazil Skin Pack, Kold War Skin Pack, Kold War Scorpion Skin, and Samurai Skin Pack.'
I don't know if anyone else is as creeped out by the term ‘skin pack' as I am (it sounds kinda serial killer-ish to me), but there it is. You can check out the trailer for Mortal Kombat XL below.
