With Gareth Edwards' Godzilla opening this weekend, buzz surrounding the director is at an all-time high. So it's probably no coincidence that the sequel to Edwards' previous film, Monsters, waited until now to launch its trailer.
Monsters: Dark Continent takes place seven years after the original film. The plot centers on a soldier who is trapped in a now monster-infested Middle East, and must fight his way out of the "Infected Zone."
Edwards did not actually direct this sequel. It was helmed by British director Tom Green. But on the plus side, it looks like they have more of a budget to play with, at least compared to the first film. So it should be fun to see what they come up with.
Monsters: Dark Continent opens in Britain this fall, but dates for an American release are still TBA. (Source)
