You've got to love Oliver Stone. The man always says what he thinks—whether you asked him to or not.

Recently the acclaimed director recently sat down for a one-hour interview with Dan Rather for the second season of his AXS TV show, The Big Interview. When Rather asked Stone if he would ever make a film about Obama, the director of Platoon decided to take that opportunity to rip the director of Saving Private Ryan—that would be Steven Spielberg—for his the schmaltzy patriotism running through so many of his movies.

Here's the exact quote:

I don't think he's that interesting enough. I think that's more of a Spielberg movie, because, you know, the first black President of the United States, it's a good story. And I'm sure you can sell it on a symbolic level, but, uh, I fault Spielberg for his view of exceptionalism. He grew up in that America, he has to sell that idea. Americans like that idea.

Later on Stone would discuss his status as a sort of rebel and Hollywood outsider. "Part of me wants to fit in and would love to get Oscars," he admits. "but there's another part of me that says I'm fucked, I'm on the other side of history."

Of course, Oliver conveniently neglects to mention that he and Spielberg both have three Academy Awards on their resume. But yeah, fuck you Steven Spielberg, you piece of garbage genius director.

You can catch the entire interview on Monday, February 24, at 8PM EST on AXS TV...if you have any idea where that is.
