Nowadays, we don’t seem too assed about the meanings of words. A couple of them in particular are being thrown around with no effs given. I get particularly pissed at the misuse of the word ‘genius;’ brainwashed preteens calling Bieber’s ballachingly bad new single genius and that sort of thing. Stop it already.
Another, especially in the gaming world, is retro. This is a hard one, because of the problems defining it. Is the Gamecube/Xbox/PS2 era distant enough to be considered retro? Is there a specific time period that has to elapse, like with the release of top secret government documents? Who the hell knows.
One thing we do know is that time passes damn fast around here, buddy boy. The current generation of consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (and, I guess, Wii U, if that hasn’t been taken around the back of the barn and shot in the head like an old, blind, lame racehorse), are only a couple years old, but that’s a long time in video game years. Apparently, it’s already time to fondly reminisce about the consoles’ launch.
Did You Know Gaming have just released a video charting the history of the PlayStation 4. If you were there for it all, from the pre-release wang waving from Sony execs to the gradual domination of Xbox, you’ll get a kick out of this one. Check it out.
